Sony annonce pour le 16 juin 2015, le sortie du film Chappie en édition DVD et Blu-ray de Neill Blomkamp avec Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Yo-Landi Visser, Hugh Jackman, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Ninja, Sigourney Weaver et Brandon Auret.
Deon Wilson a imaginé des robots-policiers qui ont été vendus au service d'agents de Johannesburg. Ce dernier est comblé par ses androïdes qui épargnent la vie de beaucoup de policiers et permettent des résultats concrets. Mais, Deon a de plus grandes ambitions. Il veut arriver à implanter une conscience à ses robots. Quand il parvient enfin à établir le bon algorithme, il vole un robot du laboratoire dans le but de faire de lui un cobaye. Mais, en route vers chez lui, il est arrêté par un gang de criminels qui exige de l'ingénieur qu'il fasse du robot un assassin. Malgré ses réticences, Deon doit abandonner l'automate, à peine éveillé au monde, entre les mains de ces bandits.

(April 29, 2015) – Academy Award® nominated writer/director Neill Blomkamp (Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay, District 9, 2009) reunites with Sharlto Copley (District 9) for the sci-fi action thriller CHAPPiE, debuting on Digital HD June 2, and coming to Blu-ray™ and DVD June 16 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Canada and MRC. In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he develops the ability to think and feel for himself. When authorities begin to see him as a danger, they will stop at nothing to ensure he is the last of his kind. Synopsis:
In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. As powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.
