Amazon - Mr. Turner

Sony Annonce pour le 5 mai le film Mr. Turner en édition DVD et Blu-ray de Mike Leigh avec Timothy Spall, Dorothy Atkinson, Paul Jesson, Marion Bailey, Lesley Manville, Martin Savage, Sandy Foster, Karl Johnson, Ruth Sheen et Amy Dawson.

Joseph Mallord William Turner est un des peintres anglais les plus importants du 19e siècle. De nature bougonne et renfrognée, il est parfois source de railleries. Peu à l'aise avec sa famille, il est toutefois proche de son père qui l'assiste dans son art. C'est cependant lorsqu'il se trouve devant une toile que M. Turner se porte le mieux, utilisant une technique de peinture des plus originales. Afin de trouver son inspiration, il visite les bordels et il loue une chambre au bord de mer sous un nom d'emprunt, embrassant à nouveau l'anonymat.

TORONTO, On. (March 10, 2015) – MR. TURNER, the latest film from seven-time Academy Award® nominee Mike Leigh (Another Year), arrives on Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital HD May 5 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Canada. Nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Original Score and Best Production Design, MR. TURNER features an award-winning lead performance by veteran actor Timothy Spall (The King’s Speech) as British painter J.M.W. Turner.  Spall was recognized for his role in the film with the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as by the New York Film Critics and the National Society of Film Critics. Additionally, the film’s Oscar®-nominated cinematographer, Dick Pope, was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography from the American Society of Cinematographers, and was honored with the Cannes Film Festival’s Vulcain Prize for the Technical Artist for “bringing to light the works of Turner.” In recognition of his remarkable body of work, writer/director Mike Leigh was named this year’s recipient of BAFTA’s John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing.  This Sony Pictures Classics film was an official selection at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, and New York Film Festival.

Synopsis

Spanning the last 25 years in the life of Britain’s most revered painter, MR. TURNER is a remarkably rich portrait of a complex, contradictory man whose relationships with his family, fellow artists and lovers were often as turbulent as the canvases he painted.  Hailed as one of the best films of the year, MR. TURNER is a beautifully shot epic and stands as another masterpiece from Mike Leigh, the seven-time Oscar®-nominated director of Another Year and Topsy-Turvy.

 

MR. TURNER is written and directed by Mike Leigh and produced by Tessa Ross, Norman Merry, Gail Egan and Georgina Lowe. Starring Timothy Spall, Dorothy Atkinson, Marion Bailey, Paul Jesson and Lesley Manville.
